Eamonn Walker recently exited Chicago Fire as a series regular, but it didn’t take long for NBC to find the perfect replacement. Dermot Mulroney will step in for Walker as the new head of Firehouse 51, Chief Dom Pascal.

NBC started looking for a new fire chief after Eamonn Walker announced he’ll depart the hit firefighter drama as a series regular in the Season 12 finale. His character Wallace Boden had been the head of Firehouse 51 since the very start of the show but was eventually promoted to Deputy Commissioner of the Chicago Fire Department.

Mulroney will take over from him in the role of Chief Dom Pascal, who’s returning to the Chicago Fire Department after a stint as a chief in Miami. NBC’s official statement described his character as “cheerful and good under pressure, but estranged from his wife.”

He’s joining the ensemble cast of Chicago Fire, which also includes Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, Miranda Rae Mayo, Joe Miñoso, Christian Stolte, Daniel Kyri, Hanako Greensmith, and Jocelyn Hudon. Eamonn Walker is also expected to reprise his role, but he’ll be credited as a recurring player in the future.

Mulroney is currently attached to the Starz drama The Hunting Wives, and his recent TV credits include roles in Hanna and Secret Invasion.
