Paramount+ is plotting the psychological thriller Little Disasters, and they found the perfect duo to lead its ensemble. Diane Kruger and Jo Joyner joined the cast of this series which explores female friendships and motherhood through the lens of four very different women.

Based on the novel by Sarah Vaughan, Little Disasters will kick off with Jess (Kruger) taking her baby to a hospital with a head injury she can’t explain. Her close friend Liz (Joyner) is an on-duty A&E doctor at the hospital, and her decision of whether to call social services on Jess will forever fracture and nearly destroy entire families and friendships.

Kruger can’t wait to sink her teeth into this project, which she describes as a relatable story that examines the crippling judgment levied upon mothers by society.

“The story so wonderfully explores the fragility of reputation, with the rapid unraveling of Jess’ seemingly perfect life. I can’t wait to begin developing Jess’s character and explore the challenges of motherhood through her eyes,” said Kruger in a statement.

In addition to Kruger and Joyner, Little Disasters will also star Shelley Conn as corporate lawyer Charlotte and Emily Taaffe as free-spirited Mel, along with Ben Bailey Smith as Liz’s husband Nick, Stephen Campbell Moore as Mel’s husband Rob, and JJ Field as rich but overstretched Ed.
