Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia are both former child stars ready to step into the next stage of their career—and they’ll get to do it by each other’s side. They’ll lead Amazon Prime Video’s thriller series Obsession, which chronicles the young couple’s volatile affair.
Based on Catherine Ryan Howard’s novel 56 Days, Obsession has been described as both a unique crime story and a riveting psychological thriller. It centers on Oliver (Jogia) and Ciara (Cameron,) who fall for each other fast and dangerously hard after a chance encounter at a supermarket.
Things turn deadly 56 days later when homicide investigators find a brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed body at Oliver’s apartment. As they try to get to the bottom of this crime, the series will intercut between an intense single day in the present investigation and the twisted trajectory of the young lovers’ affair in the past.
Cameron is the Daytime Emmy-award-winning star of Disney’s series Liv and Maddie and the Descendants franchise, who most recently starred in the Apple TV+ musical comedy Schmigadoon! As for Jogia, he rose to prominence with the role in Nickelodeon’s Victorious, and will next be seen in AMC’s sci-fi thriller Orphan Black: Echoes.
