The doctor is in.
Universal Content Productions is developing a series based on the Wondery podcast, Dr. Death, and it has secured quite a cast.
It follows the true story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, who was given the name Dr. Death after many patients on whom he performed complex but routine spinal surgeries were left permanently maimed or dead.
Fifty Shades Freed actor Jamie Dornan will take on the titular role, making his first return to television since The Fall.
Christian Slater of Mr. Robot and 30 Rock actor Alec Baldwin have also signed on as vascular surgeon Randall Kirby and neurosurgeon Robert Henderson, who team up to stop Duntsch.
This is not the first series UCP has created based on a podcast. Last year’s Homecoming starred Julia Roberts, while Dirty John was led by Connie Britton.
The production company is currently proposing Dr. Death to networks and streaming platforms as it did with the previous two series.
