It may have only been a year since season three of The Handmaid’s Tale premiered, but after that shocking cliffhanger, it’s no wonder fans have been eager to discover what happens next to June (Elisabeth Moss) and her fellow handmaids.

Rumors have been circulating that we may not receive the fourth season until 2021 at the earliest. So what is the reason for this unwanted delay?

“Part of the reason why it’s taken a little bit longer, besides just timing, is that we are making it a bit of a bigger season this year,” Moss told Digitial Spy. “We’re really stretching the limits of our capabilities, production wise, and we’re on the move a lot.

“We’re not sitting in a studio between four walls very much, so it really is a bigger season and that’s taken a little [longer]. I’ve been in Toronto since mid-January prepping.”

Essentially, the bad news is that we have to wait a little bit longer for season four. The good news, however, is that it sounds like it’s going to be epic.
