Ella Purnell has already given us one epic series this year with Fallout, and she’s getting ready to do it again. The first trailer for her upcoming dark comedy Sweetpea is here, and it sees her playing a young woman whose anger leads her to a point of no return.

Purnell will lead this series in the role of Rhiannon Lewis, an unassuming young woman who doesn’t make much of an impression. She’s struggling to get a promotion at work and the full attention of the guy she likes, while trying to take care of her sick father – until everything turns upside down.

“Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and loses control. Suddenly the wallflower is gone, and in its place is a young woman capable of anything… Rhiannon’s life transforms as she steps into a new, intoxicating power, but can she keep her killer secret?” reads the show’s official synopsis.

Sweetpea is based on the cult novel by C.J. Skuse, and it’s been adapted for Sky and Starz by writer and executive producer Kirstie Swain. In addition to Purnell, it will also star Nicôle Lecky, Jon Pointing, Calam Lynch, Leah Harvey, Jeremy Swift, and Dustin Demri-Burns.

Sweetpea will launch in October, and its release date is yet to be announced.
