Abby was one of the most prominent characters featured in The Last of Us Part II, and we finally know who’ll play her in HBO’s game adaptation. After months of rumors and speculation, the Emmy nominee Kaitlyn Dever has officially been cast as Abby in The Last of Us.

Dever will join Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the role of Abby, whose character description says she’s “a skilled soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks vengeance for those she loved.”

Being cast in this role is somewhat of a full-circle moment for Dever, who was the fan favorite to play Ellie when The Last of Us game originally came out. She aged out of the role by the time HBO’s adaptation rolled around, and the show’s producers decided to go with a younger actress, casting Bella Ramsey instead.

The Last of Us creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann confirmed Dever’s casting and said they’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, and the rest of their family.

Dever is best known for starring in Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart opposite Beanie Feldstein, but her list of TV credits is just as impressive. She scored an Emmy nomination for Dopescick and also played key roles in Justified, Last Man Standing, and Unbelievable.
