It’s been five years since Eric Bana led the true crime drama Dirty John, and he’s finally gearing up for his next big TV project. He landed a lead role in Netflix’s upcoming limited series Untamed, which hails from creators Mark L. Smith and Ella Smith.

According to the streamer’s official logline, this character-driven mystery thriller will center on Eric Inman, “a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness,” who’s sent on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park and in his past while investigating a brutal death.

Mark L. Smith and his daughter Elle Smith wrote the script for this six-part limited series, and they’ll executive produce it alongside Bana, Todd Black, and Tony Shaw for Escape Artists Entertainment, Steve Lee Jones for Bee Holder Productions, and Cliff Roberts for Syndicate Entertainment.

Mark L. Smith previously collaborated with Netflix on The Midnight Sky starring George Clooney, and he’s developing two more shows for the streamer – The 39 Steps adaptation led by Benedict Cumberbatch and the Wild West drama American Primeval.

Untamed marks Bana’s first TV project since Bravo’s Dirty John. He’s mostly been focusing on film roles in the meantime, including the upcoming sequel to his film The Dry, titled Force of Nature: The Dry 2.
