HBO’s shocking cancelation of Westworld took everyone by surprise, and its star Evan Rachel Wood isn’t over it, even years later. She recently opened up about the show’s abrupt ending and said that not knowing what happened still keeps her up at night.

Westworld was created for HBO by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, and it was set in the futuristic AI-powered Wild-West-themed amusement park populated by android hosts. The series was shockingly canceled after four seasons in 2022, and its writers never got the chance to wrap up the story properly.

The Season 4 finale left many fans of the show puzzled, and its star Evan Rachel Wood feels the same way. She recently told The Hollywood Reporter that it was devastating to build an arc and a character for almost 10 years and not get the payoff at the end.

“I asked the creators after we got canceled, ‘Can you please just tell me how you’re going to end?’ And they wouldn’t tell me. I think because, I don’t know, maybe somehow, someway, in some iteration we’ll get to finish it, but I still don’t know. It does still keep me up at night,” said Wood.

After canceling Westworld in November 2022, HBO made another shocking decision a month later, when they removed it from their streaming service HBO Max following a merger with Warner Bros. Discovery.
