Season 4 of Black Mirror brought us some of the darkest and most twisted technologies yet as well as some of the series’ happiest endings. Here is a list of every Season 4 episode ranked from best to worst.
USS Callister
This is quite possibly my favourite episode ever. It has everything you could possibly ask for from a Black Mirror episode. It’s messed up, dark, creative, thrilling and it’s even pretty funny. The Star Trek theme gives the episode a charming finish and the final scenes had us on the edge of our seat.
Hang the DJ
Another rare Black Mirror happy ending! The dating app idea is brilliant and we never saw the twist coming. Amy and Frank are extremely likeable characters too.
Black Museum
Black Museum is the darkest episode of the season yet and features three chilling stories of technological misuse in one. It also has multiple Easter eggs to keep an eye out for in the display cabinets, which suggests that all episodes take place in the same universe.
Crocodile
We would put this episode higher if it wasn’t competing with three other amazing episodes. The plot is gripping and it’s shocking how far Mia will go to protect her reputation. The scenery throughout the episode is also astonishing.
Metalhead
A lot of people didn’t rate this shorter, barer episode but the cinematography is fantastic and the tension throughout is off the charts. It just doesn’t quite compare to the episodes above it on this list.
Archangel
The Achangel concept was a good one but we feel like it could have been taken to more interesting places. There was something a little unbelievable about the mother-daughter relationship and the episode just wasn’t as exciting as the rest of the season.
