True Detective is one of the most highly-anticipated TV shows returning in 2024, and its fourth season is just a few weeks away. Here’s everything we know about the fourth chapter of this acclaimed anthology series, set to premiere on HBO under the title True Detective: Night Country.

Plot Details

True Detective: Night Country will take us to Ennis, Alaska, and here’s what it has in store, according to its official synopsis:

“The eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace. To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves, and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.”

Cast & Crew

Jodie Foster and Kali Reis will lead the series as Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro, while the supporting cast will include Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw, Christopher Eccleston, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and John Hawkes.

Issa López is taking over from Nic Pizzolatto as the showrunner, writer, and director. They’re both coming on board as executive producers alongside Foster, original stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, and director Cary Joji Fukunaga, among others.

Release Date

True Detective: Night Country will premiere on HBO on January 14, 2024, and it will feature a total of six episodes airing weekly.
