The release date of the historical epic Shogun is just two weeks away, and FX found a perfect way to build up even more hype. They dropped a new extended trailer for this highly-anticipated series, in addition to unleashing an epic Super Bowl ad.

Shogun draws inspiration from James Clavell’s novel of the same name, and it’s set at the dawn of a century-defining civil war in 1600s Japan. Lord Yoshii Toranaga is fighting for his life against his enemies on the Council of Regents, when a mysterious European ship is found marooned in a nearby fishing village, setting off a chain of events that will change their lives forever.

The new extended trailer is inviting you to experience a time of war, treachery, and passion in the heart of feudal Japan. Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks co-created this series for FX, with Marks serving as its showrunner and one of the executive producers.

Cosmo Jarvis and Hiroyuki Sanada lead the ensemble cast of this series, which also includes Anna Sawai, Tadanobu Asano, Hiroto Kanai, Takehiro Hira, Moeka Hoshi, and Shinnosuke Abe.

Shogun will arrive on FX and Hulu on February 27, and it will feature a total of ten episodes airing weekly until the season finale on April 23.
