Fargo grew into one of FX’s most consistent shows over the course of the past decade, and its latest season became a major Emmys contender. Its creator Noah Hawley addressed its future after Season 5 received 15 Emmy nods and said “chances are good” that Season 6 would happen.
The hit anthology series features a different setting and cast each season, and Season 5 starred the likes of Juno Temple, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Joe Keery, and Lamorne Morris. It centered on a Midwestern housewife whose dark past comes to haunt her after she finds herself in hot water with the authorities.
Hawley discussed a potential Season 6 with The Wrap and said they don’t have a timeline in place because he’s busy working on Alien: Earth.
“I think [chances] are good. Certainly, this is an argument to make another one. It shows the appetite is still there, and people appreciate it. It’s hard to give a timeline for it… I feel like I can see a story that I want to tell, and I’m excited to do so when I can,” he explained.
FX boss John Landgraf echoed his words in an interview with Variety, and said it’s “going to be a little while” before Hawley returns to the Fargo universe because they want him to focus on writing at least two seasons of Alien: Earth.
