Season 2 of Criminal Minds: Evolution is currently in production, and another major star just joined the pack. The Emmy winner Felicity Huffman will guest star on the show as Dr. Jill Gideon, a brilliant biological psychiatrist and the ex-wife of Mandy Patinkin‘s Jason Gideon.
Criminal Minds: Evolution serves as the continuation of the original CBS series, and Huffman will join the series regulars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Zach Gilford, and Ryan-James Hatanaka in the next season.
She’ll play Dr. Jill Gideon, the ex-wife of Jason Gideon (Mandy Patinkin), described as “a brilliant biological psychiatrist who agrees to help the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit investigate a murderous conspiracy theory.”
Given the complicated history between her late ex-husband and David Rossi (Mantegna), she’s reluctant to join the bureau’s elite team, but eventually agrees to come on board and use her specific skill set to help them uncover another clue to the elusive Gold Star mystery.
Huffman is best known as the star of the ABC series Desperate Housewives, which earned her an Emmy Award for the best lead actress in a comedy series. She also received three Emmy nominations for playing several different characters in the anthology series American Crime.
