The seventh edition of Canneseries is coming our way this April, and it will introduce us to some of spring’s most anticipated new shows. This year’s lineup has officially been unveiled, and it will include world premieres of the Apple TV+ series Franklin and Disney+’s Becoming Karl Lagerfeld.
Becoming Karl Lagerfeld starring Daniel Brühl as the iconic fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld will premiere out of the competition, along with Amazon Prime Video’s video game adaptation Fallout, Netflix’s French comedy Fiasco, and the Apple TV+ Benjamin Franklin biopic starring Michael Douglas, which will close the festival.
Canneseries’ artistic director Albin Lewi described this television festival as “a powerful launchpad” and promised this year’s edition will feature some highly ambitious new series.
“Our lineup is qualitative and varied, with a mix of anticipated series from platforms and networks, as well as pure discoveries… Most of our series are world premieres, and if they are international premieres they’ve only been shown in their local market,” Lewi told Variety.
The list of series set to be shown as a part of the competition selection includes Dark Horse (Denmark), The Zweiflers (Germany), To the Wonder (China), This is Not Sweden (Spain, Sweden), Dumbsday (Norway), and Living on a Razor’s Edge (Brazil).
The seventh edition of Canneseries is taking place in Cannes, France from April 5-10.
