Teen comedy Reservation Dogs is only five episodes into its first season, but that didn’t stop FX from announcing its renewal. Taika Waititi’s critically acclaimed series has been renewed for its sophomore season, set to premiere in 2022.

Nick Grad, FX’s president of original programming, said they’re happy to give Reservation Dogs an early order for another season because they’re thrilled to see how much the viewers love it. He also took a moment to give a special shout-out to the creative masterminds behind this show.

“Sterlin Harjo delivered on his creative vision, partnering with Taika Waititi and the rest of the creative team, the brilliant cast and crew to create one of TV’s best new comedies and a groundbreaking showcase of representation and raw talent,” said Grad in a statement.

Reservation Dogs follows four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma, as they commit petty crimes in an attempt to save enough money to get to California. The series was highly praised for being created by an almost entirely Indigenous American cast and production team, and it currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Its main cast includes Devery Jacobs, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Paulina Alexis, and Lane Factor.
