Peacock is plotting a limited series about John Wayne Gacy titled Devil in Disguise, and its cast is getting better by the day. Gabriel Luna, James Badge Dale, Michael Angarano, Chris Sullivan, and Marin Ireland are the latest edition to the show’s ensemble.

Gacy is one of the most infamous serial killers of the 1970s, and he murdered 33 young men between 1972 and 1978 before his capture. His harrowing murder spree previously inspired the 2021 Peacock docuseries John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise, which served as inspiration for this biopic.

Peacock’s official logline promises that this project will peel “back the twisted layers of Gacy’s life while weaving in heartrending stories of his mostly gay victims; exploring the grief, guilt, and trauma of their families and friends; and exposing the systemic failures, missed opportunities and societal prejudices that fueled his reign of terror.”

Michael Chernus (Severance) has previously been tapped to play Gacy, and he’ll be in pretty good company. Five new actors have been added to the cast, including Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us) as Detective Rafael Tovar, James Badge Dale (1923) as Chief of Detectives Joe Kozenczak, Michael Angarano (This Is Us) as Sam Amirante, Chris Sullivan (This Is Us) as Lead Prosecutor Bill Kunkle, and Marin Ireland (The Umbrella Academy) as Elizabeth Piest.
