HBO’s President of Programming Casey Bloys announced on Wednesday that the Game of Thrones final season will premiere “sometime in ’19,” giving only a ballpark estimate on the date.

“I’m not going to talk about what to expect, although it’s pretty great,” Bloys said at the Summer Television Critics Association Press Tour.
When asked which quarter of the year it might premiere, Bloys simply said “First half.”
He also gave an update on the GoT prequel pilot written by George R.R Martin and Jane Goldman.
“We’re just starting the search for a director, casting director, and we hope to start shooting in the new year.”
While GoT fans will have to wait until next year to see who will finally end up on the Iron Throne, some of the cast of Game of Thrones already bid farewell to the Emmy-winning drama.
Last month, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) took to Instagram to share a heartwarming goodbye to GoT as she wraps up filming on the series’ 8th and final season.
“Hopped on a boat to an island to say goodbye to the land that has been my home away from home for almost a decade,” she wrote. “It’s been a trip @gameofthrones thank you for the life I never dreamed I’d be able to live and the family I’ll never stop missing #💔#lastseasonitis.”
Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) recently finished her final day of filming and hinted she may be the “last woman standing” on the fan-favorite show.
“Goodbye belfast. goodbye arya. goodbye game of thrones. what a joy i’ve had. here’s to the adventures to come,” Williams captioned the photo of herself wearing white sneakers covered with blood, adding the hashtags, “#lastwomanstanding, #barely, #immasleepforthenextfouryears, and #justkiddingidontsleep.”
