“Game of Thrones” Prequel “House of the Dragon” is Coming to HBO

We’re about to get to know the Targaryens much better.

Multiple outlets confirm that HBO has given a series order to a House Targaryen-focused drama called House of the Dragon.

The premium cabler announced that it has given the show a 10-episode straight to series order Tuesday afternoon. The prequel series is based on the Fire & Blood novel and is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

“The Game of Thrones universe is so rich with stories,” said HBO programming president Casey Bloys. “We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan and George.”

Miguel Sapochnik is set to direct the pilot.

In other Game of Thrones news, Deadline reported that the Game of Thrones prequel pilot starring Naomi Watts is not going through at HBO. This news has not yet been reported by HBO.
