As high as our excitement levels are for the final season of Game of Thrones, our fears of withdrawal are pretty high, too.

The HBO series based on George R. R. Martin’s books has been a part of our lives for eight years, and it’s never easy saying goodbye…

So, lucky for us, the network is not leaving us in the lurch.

HBO will air a two-hour documentary following the final season, which will bring to an end our Westerosi journey.

British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay has directed the feature that documents the filming of season eight and has been described as “an up-close and personal report from the trenches of production, following the crew and the cast as they contend with extreme weather, punishing deadlines and an ever-excited fandom hungry for spoilers.”

“Much more than a ‘making of’ documentary, this is a funny, heartbreaking story, told with wit and intimacy, about the bittersweet pleasures of what it means to create a world — and then have to say goodbye to it,” HBO says.

Game of Thrones: The Last Watch will be broadcast on the 26th of May — exactly a week after the final episode.
