Gavin & Stacey star Rob Brydon has revealed that he is not keen on doing more episodes of the cult series.
Brydon plays Bryn West in the series, which was revived at the end of 2019 for a Christmas special. The episode received 18.5 million viewers from people watching the show directly on their television screens alone.
Following the special’s success, fans have since been hoping that more Gavin & Stacey could be on the way. Unfortunately, Brydon believes that the show is far better being left as it is.
“There are no plans whatsoever, and personally I would say leave it where it is, with people wanting more,” Brydon told Heat. “That’s always my instinct, and I said that before this special, and I was very surprised then to see that they had written it.
“Everybody is saying, ‘you must want to do more’, but I’d much rather leave it on a high, and it’s really hard to come back after 10 years and make something as popular as this has been, because you can get it wrong.”
If you are among the fans hoping for a Gavin & Stacey revival, it’s looking like the odds are low. And if you missed the Christmas special, you can get it on DVD now.
