Eli Manning introduced us to the hilarious character Chad Powers while hosting Eli’s Places on ESPN+, and he’s ready to bring him back in style! Hulu greenlit a comedy series Chad Powers starring Glen Powell, based on the character created by Manning.
This half-hour comedy will center on a hotshot quarterback, whose bad behavior ends up putting his college career in jeopardy. Instead of accepting defeat and walking away, he disguises himself and joins a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.
In addition to playing the lead role, Powell co-created this project with Michael Waldron (Loki), and they’re both coming on board as executive producers.
“We’re both diehard college football fans. When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world. We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast,” said the duo in a joint statement.
Powell established himself as a major movie star with the roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen him on TV. He most notably played Chad Radwell in Ryan Murphy’s star-studded black comedy Scream Queens, which ran for two seasons on Fox.
