HBO is plotting many potential Game of Thrones spin-offs, and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the latest to officially get the green light. This series has finally found its leads in Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, who’ll play Dunk and Egg.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will take us a century before the events of the original series, when the Targaryens still hold the Iron Throne. It will follow the adventures of naïve yet courageous knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his diminutive squire Egg, meeting great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits on their path.

Peter Claffey will lead the series as Duncan, and he’s a relative newcomer, whose list of credits includes roles in Bad Sisters, Wreck, Small Things Like This, and the next season of Vikings: Valhalla.

Dexter Sol Ansell, who’ll play Egg, started his career on the British soap opera Emmerdale, and he most recently played the young Coriolanus Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.

This spin-off draws inspiration from the Dunk & Egg fantasy novellas written by George R.R. Martin. It was originally announced under the title A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight in April 2023, and HBO is currently eyeing the late 2025 release date.
