Michael Rooker will be joining the cast of True Detective for season 4.

For those of you that are struggling to put a face to the name, Michael Rooker is the blue-skinned whistling badass Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy. He also played Daryl Dixon’s brother Merle in The Walking Dead.

Rooker will be playing the character of Hoyt, the shady billonaire owner of Hoyt Foods. In terms of what the significance of the character and plot of the new season will be, the show’s creator Nic Pizzolatto has promised it will be “really, really wild.”

He revealed: “I dream of making a TV show where you have recurring characters and don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time. After one of these I always feel so depleted. But I have to say… I have an idea.”

“It’s wild. It’s really, really wild,” he continued.

He then added: “Where do you even go after this [season]? I just had a lead character who’s 35, 45 and 70 all at the same time and this mystery that has to reach false resolutions and keep going into the future without cheating the audience and all these complicated structural elements.”
