HBO pushed Season 3 of Euphoria to give its creator Sam Levinson more time to work on the scripts, and it seems he’s completely changing the setting. HBO chairmen and CEO Casey Bloys recently dropped some hints about the show’s future, and said it most likely won’t be set in high school.
Bloys recently sat down with Variety to discuss what’s ahead for HBO and Max and dropped hints about several splashy projects, including the third season of Euphoria. He revealed that Levinson is busy writing the scripts and that he has a new take that he’s excited about after taking it out of high school.
“One of the issues I think that Sam is thinking about is that he doesn’t want to have it in high school anymore. That’s where it was set and what made sense then. So when you take it out of that, there’s a lot of back and forth about where to set it and how far in the future to set it,” he told Variety.
Despite changing the setting, Bloys assured the fans that the third season will still feature the core cast that made Euphoria a success in the first place, including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, and Alexa Demie.
