The Franchise is one of the most promising new shows coming our way this fall, and HBO has finally given us a taste of things to come. The first trailer for this comedy series is here, and it takes us to the chaotic world of superhero filmmaking.

According to its official logline, The Franchise centers on “the crew of an unloved franchise movie [fighting] for their place in a savage and unruly cinematic universe” and “shines a light on the secret chaos inside the world of superhero moviemaking, to ask the question – how exactly does the cinematic sausage get made?”

This series hails from the Emmy-winning filmmaker Armando Iannucci (Veep), who co-created it alongside his Avenue 5 collaborator Jon Brown and the Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, 1917). They’re executive producing the project alongside Pippa Harris, Nicolas Brown, Julie Pastor, and Jim Kleverweis.

The ensemble cast of this series includes Himesh Patel as Daniel, Aya Cash as Anita, Jessica Hynes as Steph, Billy Magnussen as Adam, Lolly Adefope as Dag, Darren Goldstein as Pat, and Isaac Powell as Bryson, plus recurring guest stars Richard E. Grant as Peter and Daniel Brühl as Eric.

The Franchise will feature eight episodes airing weekly on HBO following the premiere on October 6.
