HBO Renews “Insecure” for 5th Season

Yvonne Orji and Issa Rae in "Insecure"

The premium cabler has renewed the Issa Rae comedy for another season.

Multiple outlets confirm that HBO has picked up Insecure for a fifth season. News of the renewal comes less than three weeks after the show’s season four premiere.

Insecure was created by Rae and was partially based on her web series Awkward Black Girl. Rae also executive produces along with Prentice Penny, Melina Matsoukas, Michael Rotenberg, Dave Becky, Jonathan Berry, Amy Aniobi, and Jim Kleverweis.

“We’re thrilled that Issa, Prentice, and the whole Insecure team will be getting back together for a fifth season,” said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO Programming. “As we laugh and cringe with recognition, their stories make us all feel a little less alone in the world.”

Insecure also stars Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, Natasha Rothwell, Amanda Seales and Alexander Hodge.
