The Last of Us is one of the most highly-anticipated shows coming to HBO in the nearby feature and we finally got a glimpse at this series. The network shared the first footage from the video game adaptation starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

According to HBO’s official synopsis, the series takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed, and centers on a hardened survivor Joel, who’s been hired to smuggle a 14-year-old girl Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone. The duo must depend on each other for survival as they embark on a brutal, heartbreaking journey across the U.S.

Pascal and Ramsey are both HBO veterans, having previously starred in Game of Thrones. The cast of this series also includes Gabriel Luna as Joel’s younger brother Tommy, Merle Dandridge as resistance leader Marlene, Jeffrey Pierce as Perry, a rebel in a quarantine zone, and Anna Torv as Tess, a smuggler and fellow hardened survivor.

The Last of Us still doesn’t have an official release date, but it will most likely premiere in early 2023. The series is based on Naughty Dog’s hit video game of the same name, which was released in 2013. The first season will feature a total of ten episodes, written by the show’s co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.
