Matthew Rhys in "Perry Mason"

The official trailer for HBO’s Perry Mason reboot has been released.

Mathew Rhys (The Americans) stars as defense lawyer Mason in Los Angeles in 1931. And a child kidnapping gone very, very wrong.”

“Based on characters created by author Erle Stanley Gardner, this drama series follows the origins of American fiction’s most legendary criminal defense lawyer, Perry Mason. When the case of the decade breaks down his door, Mason’s relentless pursuit of the truth reveals a fractured city and just maybe, a pathway to redemption for himself,” they continued.

The trailer shows Mason and the characters he encounters while investigating the kidnapping and murder of a young boy. The coroner tells Mason, it’s “the worst thing you’ve ever seen,” and Mason responds with, “What do you know what I’ve seen?”

Starring in Perry Mason are Tatitana Maslany (Orphan Black) as Sister Alice, John Lithgow as attorney E.B. Jonathon who hires Mason for the case, Shea Whigham as Mason’s partner Pete Strickland. Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, Stephen Root, Gayle Rankin, Nate Corddry, Veronica Falcon, Jefferson Mays, Lili Taylor, Andrew Howard, Eric Lange, and Robert Patrick also are in the series.

The series was created by Rolin Jones (The Exorcist) and Ron Fitzgerald (Westworld), and directed by Timothy Van Patten (Game of Thrones).
