The enormity of Helena Bonham Carter’s upcoming role has not escaped her.

The Ocean’s Eight star will be taking over the historical role of Princess Margaret from Vanessa Kirby when The Crown embarks on its third season.

Unlike her elder sister, Queen Elizabeth II, who is in her nineties, the Countess of Snowden passed away in 2002 at the age of 71.

In her bid to play the royal as accurately as possible, Bonham Carter reportedly went to a psychic to make contact with the late princess.

“[Margaret] said, apparently, she was glad it was me,” the actress said. “My main thing when you play someone who is real, you kind of want their blessing because you have a responsibility.”

But, despite receiving her blessing, Margaret did reportedly have some advice.

“She said: ‘But you’re going to have to brush up and be more groomed and neater,’” Bonham Carter said. “Then she said: ‘Get the smoking right. I smoked in a very particular way. Remember that – this is a big note – the cigarette holder was as much a weapon for expression as it was for smoking.’”

We’ll see how accurately she listened on November 17th
