The Witcher is officially coming back for Season 4, but with one major shift that no one saw coming. Henry Cavill announced his shocking exit and Liam Hemsworth is set to replace him as Geralt of Rivia once the show comes back for its fourth season.

Cavill released an official statement announcing his departure, saying his journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures. He added that he’s passing the torch with reverence to Hemsworth, saying he’s excited to see his take on “this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”

Hemsworth said he was over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia, and thanked Cavill for allowing him to take over the rains following his departure. He’s best known for playing Gale Hawthorne in the Hunger Games movies, and he previously collaborated with Netflix on Isn’t It Romantic.

The news of Cavill’s departure comes shortly after he announced his return to the DCU in the role of Superman. We’ll still get to see him play Geralt of Rivia in Season 3 before Hemsworth takes over from him in Season 4. Netflix is yet to announce the premiere date for the next season, but it will most likely come out next summer.
