After directing two films about the world-famous detective Sherlock Holmes, Guy Ritchie is getting ready to put a new twist on this story—and he found a perfect partner in crime! Hero Fiennes Tiffin landed the lead role in Ritchie’s Amazon Prime Video series Young Sherlock Holmes.
Ritchie previously directed two Sherlock Holmes films led by Robert Downey Jr. and his new take on the iconic character will be based on Andy Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes book series.
“We’re going to see an exhilarating new version of the detective everyone thinks they know in a way they’ve never imagined before. We’re going to crack open this enigmatic character, find out what makes him tick, and learn how he becomes the genius we all love,” said Ritchie in a statement.
He’ll direct the eight-episode series for Amazon Prime Video, and serve as one of its executive producers alongside Matthew Parkhill, who’s coming on board as writer and showrunner.
Hero Fiennes Tiffin will play the lead role in this series, reuniting with Ritchie after starring in his most recent film The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. He’s best known as the star of the After franchise, and will next be seen in the romantic comedy Picture This, period drama Fackham Hall, and survival thriller Above the Below.
