Yellowjackets turned stunt casting into an art form since the start of its run, and another major 2000s star just hopped on board. Hilary Swank will join Showtime’s beloved coming-of-age thriller when it returns for its highly-anticipated second season.
Yellowjackets centers on a group of high school girls who find themselves stranded and fighting for survival after a plane taking them to a soccer tournament crashes in the middle of the wilderness. The timeline jumps between their past and current lives, showing the lengths they had to go to in an attempt to live to see another day.
Yellowjackets cast several major 90s/2000s stars as the adult versions of the lead characters, including Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis, and Lauren Ambrose. The show’s ensemble cast also includes Sophie Nélisse, Samantha Hanratty, Tawny Cypress, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, and Kevin Alves.
Hilary Swank is the latest star added to the cast in a mystery role. Her casting makes total sense given the successful resume she built during the late 90s and early 2000s, when she won two Oscars for Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby. The list of her recent credits includes TV shows Alaska Daily, Away, and Trust.
