Mindhunter may not be getting another season, but its star Holt McCallany is gearing up to lead another promising Netflix series. He’s been tapped to play the lead role in Kevin Williamson’s upcoming drama series The Waterfront about a North Carolina family trying to keep their fishing empire afloat.
The Waterfront draws inspiration from true events and centers on the flawed Buckley family, as they try to keep control of their crumbling fishing empire in North Carolina. McCallany will lead the series as the family patriarch Harlan Buckley who has built up the Buckley fishery business with his dad, veering into some illegal business along the way.
The Buckleys have faced a time of change after Harlan left the family business in the hands of his wife Vicki and his wife Cane in the face of two heart attacks. Cane’s desperate, foolish decisions eventually force Harlan to take the reins once again and keep their fishing empire afloat by any means necessary.
The Waterfront will mark McCallany’s long-awaited return to Netflix, where he led David Fincher’s thriller drama Mindhunter alongside Jonathan Groff. He most recently starred in The Iron Claw, and will next be seen in the eighth Mission Impossible film and the star-studded espionage thriller The Amateur.
