Homecoming will be returning to Amazon later this year, but many important members will not be coming with it.

The series features Julia Roberts as caseworker Heidi Bergman who begins to discover that the Homecoming Transitional Support Centre where she worked is not facility it purported to be.

The Ben Is Back actress has already confirmed that she will not be returning to the lead role when the show embarks on season two, but it seems she is not the only one.

According to Variety, director Sam Esmail will not be returning either.

All 10 episodes of the first season were helmed by Esmail whose other venture, Mr. Robot, is heading into its fourth and final season.

His role as director on the project was a personal request by Roberts who previously told Variety: “I just felt coming into television, I needed something, some way of creating content that was familiar and a comfort to me, and the thing that I rely on utterly, is my director and that continuity. And I couldn’t imagine, particularly with a piece like this, chopping it into pieces and giving each piece to someone else to care for on our behalf.”

Both Esmail and Roberts will remain with the series in the capacity of executive producers.

No date for season two of Homecoming has been announced as yet.
