“Homecoming” Season 2: Something’s Not Right With Janelle Monáe in the Trailer

Janelle Monáe in "Homecoming"

Just a few weeks after Amazon released the first look at Homecoming Season 2, the Golden-Globe nominated series, the first full-length trailer has dropped and it has us asking more questions.

“I knew something was wrong with me, but I couldn’t explain it to anyone,” says Monáe Jackie, a military veteran, who wakes up with no memories stranded in a rowboat. “It was like the people around me were keeping a secret, like we were in a movie, and everybody knew we were in a movie except for me.”

Monáe is stepping in for Julia Roberts, who was the star of the first season and remains on the project as an executive producer. Stephan James and Hong Chau will reprise their roles as Walter and Audrey and Chris Cooper and Joan Cusack will join the cast.

“It’s doing something that is unique in the television space. When I read these episodes, I was like, ‘Oh wow, this is still going to have a very special quality and take everyone in an unexpected place.’ It’s even more elevated this season — and even more suspenseful,” Monáe said about Homecoming.

Homecoming Season 2 will stream May 22 on Amazon Prime.
