“House of Cards” Drops First Teaser For New Season

Robin Wright in House of Cards (2017)

House of Cards has released a teaser trailer to mark the fast approaching arrival date of the show.

The upcoming season will be a new era, the era of President Claire Underwood. It will be the sixth and final season of the series.

The Netflix drama dropped a teaser trailer on Twitter on July 4th, announcing that they had a “message from the President of the United States.”

The twelve second trailer features Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) sitting on a replica of the Lincoln Memorial. She smugly says: “Happy independence Day… To me.” The short clip is followed by the hashtag “#MyTurn”.

The new season will be eight episodes long rather than thirteen and will continue without Kevin Spacey, following last year’s scandal concerning sexual misconduct allegations made against him.

The other actors on set said that returning to the show without Spacey was strange. Michael Kelly, who plays Doug Stamper on the show said:

“I don’t even know how to put it into words because you know one thing for so long and then all of a sudden it’s a completely different world you’re living in.There’s obviously a million emotions that I went through, that I processed during this whole thing.”

The upcoming sixth and final season will return to Netflix this fall.
