Season 2 of House of the Dragon just ended its run, and its showrunner Ryan Condal already has pretty clear plans for its future. He confirmed he has two more seasons mapped out, and revealed that Season 3 would go into production in early 2025.

Condal discussed the Season 2 finale in a press conference earlier this week, while also dropping some hints about its future. Game of Thrones prequel series has already been renewed for Season 3, which will start filming early next year, and Condal is planning to wrap up the story in Season 4.

Season 2 received some criticism for its slow pace, and fans weren’t pleased its finale didn’t include the iconic Battle of the Gullet from Fire & Blood, but Condal promised they’ll do justice to this storyline.

“We were trying to give the Gullet […] the time and the space that it deserves. Obviously, as anybody that’s seen the finale, we’re building to that event. It will happen very shortly in terms of storytelling. It will be the biggest thing to date we have pulled off,” said Condal.

House of the Dragon is set around two centuries before the events of Game of Thrones, and it chronicles the war of succession that led to the downfall of House Targaryen.
