The return of the House of the Dragon was a long time coming, and we finally know when its second season will hit HBO. The Targaryen will go to war for the Iron Throne this June when the Game of Thrones prequel series is set to come back for its second season.

Season 2 of House of the Dragon still doesn’t have an official premiere date, but its release is finally on the horizon. JB Perrette, head of global streaming and games for Warner Bros. Discovery, discussed the plans for HBO’s future in a recent media conference and confirmed that House of the Dragon is finally returning this June.

George R. R. Martin co-created this series for HBO alongside the showrunner Ryan Condal, drawing inspiration from his book Fire & Blood. This prequel series chronicles the beginning of the end of the House Targaryen, which kicked off with the harrowing war of succession known as the Dance of the Dragons.

Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy will return as leads in Season 2, along with Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, Rhys Ifans, Ewan Mitchell, and Tom Glynn-Carney. They’ll be joined by newcomers Abubakar Salim, Gayle Rankin, Freddie Fox, and Simon Russell Beale.
