Amy Schumer poured her heart into the Hulu series Life & Beth, but its run has been pretty short. The streaming giant decided to pull the plug on this series a few months after the second season ended its run.
Life & Beth starred Schumer as Beth, a New York woman whose life looks pretty great on paper, but it all comes crashing down after her mother’s unexpected death. Despite having a good job, a fancy apartment, and an attractive boyfriend, she starts considering restarting her life after moving back to her childhood home on Long Island.
Despite not being 100% autobiographical, Life & Beth was rooted in the real-life experiences of Schumer and other creatives who worked on this project.
“There are some elements that are obviously exaggerated, but some of it is direct from my life and conversations that I’ve had, and other stuff is a collaboration from the writers and the actors. It really is an amalgamation of everybody’s lives,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
In addition to Schumer, Life & Beth also starred Michael Cera, Susannah Flood, Michael Rapaport, Yamaneika Saunders, Jon Glaser, Kevin Kane, and Laura Benanti. Hulu’s cancelation comes a few months after Season 2 premiered on February 16 and failed to break into Nielsen’s streaming list.
