Hulu’s has released the first trailer for the satirical period piece The Great, starring Elle Fanning.
The comedy is loosely based on historical facts and Fanning will play Catherine the Great, the outsider who married her way into the Russian monarch and became Russia’s longest-reigning leader. Nicholas Hoult plays her husband, Emperor Peter who enjoys throwing fruit at servants, screams “rabbit!” when hunting them in the woods, and calls himself “the most loved ruler in all of Russian history,” while dead bodies hang behind him.
The Oscar-nominated co-writer of The Favourite, Tony Mcnamara wrote the series.
Also starring in The Great are Phoebe Fox, Adam Godley, Gwilym Lee, Charity Wakefield, Douglas Hodge, Sacha Dhawan, Sebastian de Souza, Bayo Gbadamosi, and Belinda Bromilow.
The series premiers May 15 on Hulu.
