Karl Lagerfeld went down in history as one of the most iconic designers of his generation, and Hulu will soon explore his origin story. The streaming giant dropped a new trailer for Becoming Karl Lagerfeld ahead of the show’s premiere in early June.

According to Hulu’s official logline, this series will plunge us into the heart of the 70s, in Paris, Monaco, and Rome. It’s set between glamour and clashes of egos, grandiose parties, and destructive passions, inviting us to discover the story of Karl before Lagerfeld.

Becoming Karl Lagerfeld was created for Disney+ by Isaure Pisani-Ferry, Jennifer Have, and Raphaëlle Bacqué, while Jérôme Salle and Audrey Estrougo came on board as directors.

Daniel Brühl leads the cast of this project as Karl Lagerfeld, and he’ll be joined by Arnaud Valois as Yves Saint Laurent, Sunnyi Melles as Marlene Dietrich, Paul Spera as Andy Warhol, Théodore Pellerin as Jacques de Bascher, and Jeanne Damas as Paloma Picasso, among others.

Becoming Karl Lagerfeld already had its world premiere at Canneseries, where it was met with a standing ovation and mostly positive reviews. We’ll have to wait for its premiere for a little bit longer, but it will become available on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in other territories on June 7.
