Offred’s story may have ended when Margaret Atwood finished The Handmaid’s Tale, but the author is set to release a sequel this month and Hulu is hoping it, too, will be a hit.

The streaming service has announced plans to adapt The Testaments into a series that will be an extension of the current award-winning drama.

The follow-up is set 15 years after the ending of the 1985 novel, with discussions with Handmaid showrunner Bruce Miller already underway.

“Margaret Atwood is a literary icon who continues to delight and challenge readers through her provocative and compelling prose,” said President of MGM Television Production Steve Stark. “She has been an incredible creative partner and resource to MGM throughout the production of Handmaid’s and we look forward to working with her on the story’s exciting next chapter.”

The Testaments will be available on shelves on September 10th. Praise be!
