Hulu’s “We Were the Lucky Ones” Gets First Look & Release Date

Georgia Hunter’s bestselling book We Were the Lucky Ones is finally getting its long-awaited TV adaptation, and its release date is just around the corner. The World War II limited series will premiere on Hulu this March, and the streamer unveiled a series of first-look images.

According to Hulu’s official logline, this series is inspired by the incredible true story of one Jewish family separated at the start of World War II, determined to survive and reunite. It’s been described as a tribute to the triumph of hope and love against all odds, which demonstrates how the human spirit can endure and even thrive during the darkest of times.

We Were the Lucky Ones will be led by Logan Lerman and Joey King, who earned nominations for an Emmy and Golden Globe for playing Gypsy Rose Blanchard in Hulu’s series The Act. The supporting cast will include Hadas Yaron, Henry-Lloyd Hughes, Amit Rahav, Sam Woolf, Michael Aloni, Moran Rosenblatt, Eva Feiler, Lior Ashkenazi, and Robin Weigert.

This historical drama was created for Apple TV+ by Erica Lipez (Julia, The Morning Show), who serves as its showrunner, while Thomas Kail (Fosse/Verdon) came on board as its director and executive producer.

We Were the Lucky Ones will debut on Apple TV+ on March 28 with a three-episode premiere, followed by new episodes launching weekly.
