The first season of the Apple TV+ series Hijack took us on a wild journey, and the ride is far from over! Idris Elba will return as a skilled negotiator Sam Nelson in the second season of this thrilling series after Apple TV+ announced its renewal.
Hijack was initially conceived as a mini-series, with George Kay and Jim Field Smith serving as its creators. The first season followed the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London, while a skilled business negotiator Sam Nelson tries to use his skills to broker a peaceful landing for the passengers.
In addition to playing the lead role, Elba also serves as one of the show’s executive producers, and he can’t wait to return for another season.
“I was floored by the overwhelming audience response after Season 1. It’s top secret what new situation unfolds for Sam Nelson, but I can assure you we will bring the high octane back,” he said in a statement.
In addition to Elba, Hijack also stars Neil Maskell, Eve Myles, Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Archie Panjabi, Ben Miles, and Kate Phillips. The first season premiered on Apple TV+ last summer, and became the streamer’s second original show to land on the Nielsen Streaming Originals Top 10 list.
