Bohemian Rhapsody star Lucy Boynton is no stranger to historical dramas, and she’s gearing up for a role in another one. She’ll play Ruth Ellis in the upcoming mini-series A Cruel Love, and ITV just shared the first look at this promising project.

A Cruel Love will chronicle the incredible journey of Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in Britain, and here’s what it has in store according to its official logline:

“Set in 1955 in the glamorous and intoxicating world of London club-land, Ruth found huge acclaim, aged 28, as the capital’s youngest club manager. But her success soon unraveled as she became entwined in an abusive relationship with racing driver David Blakely.”

In addition to Boynton in the lead role, this four-part series will also star Toby Jones (Captain America), Laurie Davidson (Guilty Party), Mark Stanley (Game of Thrones), Joe Armstrong (Fool Me Once), Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who), Toby Stephens (Black Sails), and Juliet Stevenson (Truly, Madly, Deeply).

A Cruel Love is based on Carol Ann Lee’s A Fine Day for Hanging: The Real Ruth Ellis Story, and it was adapted for ITV by Kelly Jones (The Long Call). It will feature four episodes, and ITV is yet to set its official release date.
