The first season of Beef was such a huge success for Netflix that they started plotting a second chapter with a brand-new cast. Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are reportedly circling lead roles in Season 2, along with Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny.

According to Deadline’s recent report, Netflix and A24 are thinking about turning Beef into an anthology series. This news comes on the heels of the show’s recent success at the SAG Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards, which comes about a month after it won eight Primetime Emmy Awards.

Bringing Beef back for another ride seems like a no-brainer for Netflix, and Deadline reports they’re planning to kick off production by late summer or fall. No actors are attached to this project just yet, but Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are reportedly eyeing lead roles, reuniting years after Brokeback Mountain and Love & Other Drugs.

Season 2 would apparently center on two feuding couples, and May December’s Charles Melton and Priscilla’s Cailee Spaeny are expected to join the project as the second couple.

Beef was created for Netflix by Lee Sung Jin, and he was open about his intentions to continue this series with new characters if the opportunity presented itself. The first season starred Steven Yeun and Ali Wong as two strangers who find themselves entangled in each other’s lives after being involved in a road rage incident.
