Several exciting new projects have been announced at a recent Next on Netflix event in London, including The Undertow. Fifty Shades of Grey star Jamie Dornan will play identical twins in this crime noir series opposite Station Eleven’s Mackenzie Davis.

The Undertow will center on Nicola (Davis), who’s suffocating in a loveless marriage to Adam (Dornan). Her life takes a dramatic turn when Adam’s long-estranged identical twin brother Lee comes crashing back into her life, and their tangled romantic past threatens to destroy the present as they struggle to maintain a web of secrets and lies.

The Undertow draws inspiration from the Nordisk Film Production AS show Twin, and it was adapted for Netflix by writers Sarah Dollard, Hanna Jameson, Scout Cripps, and Kam Odedra.

The production will kick off in the Scottish Highlands later this year, and Dornan is coming on board as one of the executive producers, in addition to playing the lead role.

Dornan is best known as the star of the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, but he also has a pretty impressive track record as a TV actor. He most recently led the thriller drama series The Tourist, in addition to previously starring in The Fall and Once Upon a Time.
