CBS is determined to expand the Fire Country universe, and they’re eyeing a potential spin-off with Jared Padalecki in the lead role. He landed a guest role in the hit firefighter drama, with the potential of expanding his three-episode arc into another offshoot series.

Padalecki joined Fire Country as Camden, described as “a SoCal firefighter and maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s raw talent.” His role will be strictly recurring, and he’s expected to appear in three episodes of the CBS drama, but there’s a possibility his guest stint could lead to a headlining role in another spin-off.

This wouldn’t be the first Fire Country offshoot series to start its life with a backdrop pilot that aired as a part of the original series. Sheriff Country starring Morena Baccarin followed a similar trajectory just a few months ago, before being picked up to series for the 2025-26 season.

The expansion of the Fire Country universe is a part of CBS’s plan to focus their energy on mass-appeal franchises, according to the company’s president and CEO George Cheeks

“This season’s number one show was Fire Country, which completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe… It became very clear that not only was the show special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch,” Cheeks told Deadline.
