Ryan Murphy is currently plotting the second season of his anthology series Monster, and two A-list stars just joined its cast. Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny have been tapped to play key roles in the second season of Murphy’s Netflix series.

The first season of Monster centered on the serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, played by Evan Peters, while the second will shift focus to Erik and Lyle Menendez, who murdered their parents in their Beverly Hills home. They eventually confessed to the crime, claiming they took this drastic step after suffering years of physical and emotional abuse.

The Menendez brothers were later convicted to life in prison, with the prosecution arguing that they committed murder so they could inherit their father’s multimillion-dollar estate.

The Oscar winner Javier Bardem and the Oscar nominee Chloë Sevigny, who’ll soon star in Murphy’s Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans, have been cast as Jose and Kitty Menendez. They’re joining Cooper Koch and Nicholas Chavez, who lead this series as Lyle and Erik Menéndez.

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story was developed for Netflix by Murphy and Ian Brennan. In addition to this series, the streamer is also developing a documentary feature about the Menéndez brothers after securing “exclusive access” to their life story.
